Queen Victoria Market , located in central Melbourne is more than a shopping place in the city. It’s not only an historic landmark but also a tourist attraction. This vast and vibrant centre of trade and commerce was said to exist dated from 1878.
It’s an ideal place for those who want to buy souvenirs for their friends or family in the home country as there were many souvenir stalls around. I found out that most of the items here are sold at a lower price compare to other places. For instance souvenir T-shirts are sold starting from A$4 per piece.
even hens and some other pets are available
There were several sections of the market which comprises of the dry market, the dairy ehall, the meat & fish hall and also a food court. There’s one stall at the food court selling Indian food which serves halal food. I forgot the name of the stall but the chicken briyani there was simply delicious.

The meat & fish hall was very clean as it doesn’t seem like you’re walking inside a market. There were also lots of sea inhabitants that were rare being sold here. For example the green bugs and the morton bay bugs which I do not know they exist before this. I wanted to buy the fresh oyster but they were sold in a pack of 6. My friend Kong wasn’t keen on eating it so I didn’t bought it as I wasn’t able to finish all 6 of it.
The fruits & vegetable sections are selling fresh fruits and veggies. Before I left the place, I did buy some cherries and strawberries which were so fresh and tempting. It turns out to be sweet and delicious though.
