Hotel Review : Sunshine Hotel, Hoi An

Sunshine Hotel, Hoi An – Vietnam

I stayed one night in this hotel during my journey in Central Vietnam. Known as Sunshine hotel or Khach San Anh Duong by the locals, it’s located in Phan Dinh Phung Street, about 2km from Hoi An ancient town. I booked it through Agoda because the rate being offered was reasonable. We paid USD26 (about RM80) for a standard room, with breakfast included. Based on the exterior, I assumed that the hotel is still new or maybe it had just undergone a major renovation.

Location

The 2km distance from the town puts the hotel in a very peaceful area where u rarely hears the sound of vehicles. It took me about 10 minutes to get to the town area by riding on the bicycle provided by the hotel. A taxi ride to the town will be less than 5 minutes and should cost around 30,000 to 40,000 Vietnamese dong. Just opposite the hotel, there’s a small stall selling snacks and it also offers a motorcycle ride to the town.

Room

The standard room that we booked is fairly spacious complete with a balcony facing the pool. My room even looks more like a honeymoon room, with the love decorated towels and petals of flowers on the bed and in the wash room. The king bed was comfy and toilets are clean. Surprisingly, the items inside the minibar here are priced reasonably, not like other hotels.

Facilities

The hotel provides free wifi for its guests and the signal was strong even in my room on the 2nd floor. There’s a swimming pool for the guests and the hotel also provides free bicycle for visitors to cycle to the town area. A large information board about the tours and places to visit is available at the lobby area. The hotel provides 3 free computers with internet for the usage of their guests. There’s a restaurant at the hotel but we didn’t try the breakfast because we left early to visit My Son Sanctuary.

Staffs

The receptionist has a good command of english and friendly. However they did asked us to leave our passport with them during the stay but after we insist to keep our passport, they agreed to return to us that night after they had finish taking our details. Other staffs such as the bell boy and even the security guard were helpful and friendly with us during our stay, although they do not speak good english.

Overall

I was happy with the hotel overall although the location was a bit far from the town. With the good service and comfortable rooms, it was really value for money. I would recommend this hotel for those who visit Hoi An.

I stayed in a hotel near the ancient town of Hoi An. It’s a sudden change of hotel, recommended by the motorcyclist, after the original homestay where I booked was quite far from town centre. Not the best (but definitely not the worst) but for USD 10 per room (double bed), it’s ok.
