A fortnight ago, I tagged along with the #TravelholicAwesome members for a road trip to explore the town of Taiping, northern of Perak. So basically it’s #TravelholicAwesome members + Dan Arif for this trip. Special thanks to Lily Riani for inviting me to join the trip.

We meet up at Santai in TTDI before departing for our journey to the north. It was raining at the start of the journey. John, Byya & Mas was in the car with me for the journey. Our first stop was JanggelTrekker’s house in Tapah where we had delicious homemade lunch by Janggel’s mum. With a full stomach, we then continued the journey, arrived at Taiping about 4.30pm and headed straight to Taiping Lake Gardens (Taman Tasik Taiping).

We meet up with Biqque & Chawanna there. The lake garden turns out to be more beautiful than I expected. Lots of locals were seen hanging out there and doing activities from jogging, fishing and also picnicking. We really take our time for the photo session there.

Next stop was the mangrove area in Kuala Sepetang. We walked halfway through the pathway through the mangrove area. Amazingly we did saw two woodpecker in action at one of the mangrove tree. A few monkeys were also spotted at the surrounding. There’s also few chalets in the area which allows visitors to spend the night here.

Since we were already in Kuala Sepetang, we did make a stop to try the famous Mee Udang Mak Jah (Prawn Mee). As we were saving the space for satay later that night, we only ordered a few plates to share among us. Yeah it does taste like most bloggers who blog about it say, delicious!

Later that night, we were served with another delicious food, satay Pak Ian. Actually it belongs to Biqque’s dad so basically it was sponsored by her. Thanks Biqque!. Talk about mouth-watering satay, eventually one of us did ate 44 sticks of it and I guess that explains the taste.

Next day, Pak Ian brought us back to Kuala Sepetang area to visit the charcoal factory. We learned pretty much about the process of making charcoal that day. From how the woods were brought in by boat, being put on fire inside an ‘igloo’ and ends up as the charcoal that we normally use.

A last minute decision however extended our trip to neighboring Kuala Kangsar while we were on the way back. Kuala Kangsar is known as Perak’s royal town because the Sultan palace is located here. We had our lunch at Laksa Pokok Limau. The laksa here is unique because it serves with fried egg. Thanks to Mas Zuber’s uncle who sponsored our lunch!

We did some quick photo shoot at Masjid Ubudiyah and Istana Kenangan before heading home. To be honest, I fell in love with the architecture of Masjid Ubudiyah. It was really beautiful.

Overall I did enjoyed the trip with #TravelholicAwesome gang. Looking forward for Pulau Redang trip guys 🙂
