Some great educational attractions to visit in Singapore

I was on business trip to the Lion city bringing my clients over there for benchmarking purpose. As the current project at that time requires us to benchmark educational places, we visited a few places while we were there. Among them are these 2 places which I found to be a great place to bring your kids there.

Singapore Discovery Center (SDC)

Situated in Jurong area, this discovery center showcases various aspects of Singapore history. Upon entering, we were given some brief explanations about Singapore’s history by one of the staff there. There are many interactive displays and games along the journey to avoid visitors from getting bored.

One good thing I noticed, there are lots of inspirational wordings throughout the place. We finished walking through the exhibition area for about an hour.

Upon exiting the exhibition area, we were guided to a large screen iWerks theatre there which shows 3D movies. The 3D effects were relatively good. Next we were brought to the XD Theatre. It’s a 10-seat 6D motion simulator theatre which gave us a thrilling ride throughout an 8 to 12 minute movie. I highly recommend this ride, it is a must try! It is not like the ordinary 4D theatre, the movement is superb combined with the sounds, lights and wind effects.

Tickets are priced at SGD$15 for the exhibition and 3D feature movies. The XD theatre would cost another SGD$10 per movie.

More info you can visit SDC’s website http://www.sdc.com.sg

Singapore Science Center (SSC)

As most science center in other parts of the world, this center exhibits the practical applications of science in our daily life. It was full with interactive displays which would suit all age groups. The place was also beautifully designed and decorated with many colourful backdrops and archs.

look carefully.. do you see Einstein or Marilyn Monroe?

At one part there’s a bridge with LED lightings on it and the floor will appear in colourful lights when you step on it. While at another part there was a tornado like fire display being shown to the visitors. Although it is put inside a glass showcase, you could still feel the hotness of it.

Just like the discovery center, it also has a 3D theatre but here it is run under IMAX technology.

Tickets were priced at SGD$9 for adults and another SGD$10 for the IMAX 3D movie. You could check out their website http://www.science.edu.sg for latest promotions
