Klong Hae Floating Market

When we talk about floating market, the first thing that will came out of everyone’s mind is Thailand. There are countless amount of floating market across Thailand, most of it is within a few hours from the capital city, Bangkok.
However, further down south of Thailand, there’s also another one in the city of Hat Yai which is called Klong Hae/Khong Hae.
Located in the province of Songkhla, it is just less than 2 hour drive from the Malaysian border of Bukit Kayu Hitam.
This place have become popular among Malaysian who drive up to Hat yai during weekends.
When you reach the area, there’s plenty of stalls around selling apparels, souvenirs and also food along the way before you reach the main market area.
Once you reached the main market area, you’ll see about 50-60 boats docking by the river selling grilled & fried seafoods, noodles, snacks, fruits, drinks and many other kinds of food.

Almost all food sold here cost around 20baht (RM2 or less than 1USD). There are also a number of seating area for people to enjoy the food that they bought from the boats.
Apart from the main market, there’s also stalls on land that have designated seating areas for their customers.

Most of the food here are halal (but not all), so if you’re a Muslim, you still need to choose the food.

How to get there?
It is easy to get there once you are in the city center of Hat Yai. There are lots of taxis (tuk-tuk) around and you can just ask them to take you to the floating market.
It’s about 4-5km from the city center.

When to go?
Avoid going during rainy seasons. The place is open only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3.00pm till 9.00pm.
