Bangalore palace, situated nearby the city center of Bangalore, was built in 1944. It was said to be the replica of the Windsor Castle in England. When I first arrived there, the place looks a bit empty as at that time there are not many tourist visiting the place. The palace has a few fortified towers and the windows was constructed in gothic style. Currently it is said to be owned by the Mysore royal family. There were also lots of horse wagon outside the castle.
The ticket charge for foreigner is Rs350 plus if you’re bringing a camera, you’ll have to pay extra Rs500 which I considered expensive. I have to pay Rs850 in total which amounts to RM55 or nearly USD20. The entry fee however does include the audio guide. The audio guide gave me an explanation on the history of the palace and also about the Mysore royal family.
Once I entered the main entrance, I could see an elephant head on top of the door. I followed the audio guide and was brought to the hall, the grand living area (Durbar Hall) and also the courtyard.
There are many photographs and paintings hanging on the walls of the palace. Also there were a lot of nude paintings and photos. We tour the whole palace for about an hour.
It was said that nowadays, the super rich people occasionally rent the palace to hold parties, weddings and some other events.
