Review: Damas Suite & Residence KL

Recently I had the chance to stay at the Damas Suite & Residence in KL for one night. I rarely stay at hotels around KL because my house is also in KL but this time I got the opportunity thanks to a friend of mine.

Location

The hotel is located in Sri Hartamas area, just beside the Istana Negara (King’s palace). It’s about 10 to 15 minutes away from the city center (depending on traffic). The main public transport to get there is via taxi, there’s no train or buses that can get you there. It has a link bridge that links with the neighbouring Hartamas Shopping Center, therefore you won’t have to worry much to do your shopping or finding a place for dinner.

Room

I stayed at the Studio deluxe room which happens to be the smallest room there. However the smallest room was already 46sqm, which could easily dwarf a standard hotel room in KL. The room was decorated with modern design interior fit outs. Toilets are also large and clean. The room is equipped with a large wardrobe, an lcd tv, an L-shape sofa, a small dining table, a kitchen and also a spacious balcony, things you don’t get at a normal city hotel. Some rooms have the view of KLCC and the King’s palace nearby.

Facilities

The hotel provides free wifi. The restaurant is located nearby the reception area at the ground floor. On top of it, is the nice looking swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and they also have a fully-equipped gym. The hotel also offers free shuttle services from KLCC and Pavilion from 10.00am till 3pm but you will need to do a booking with them.

Staffs

Staffs at the reception were friendly during my check in time.  However, a slight problem happened when I called them asking for a 1 hour late check out, they decline my request saying that the hotel was fully booked for the day and they need to clean the room. Not satisfied with the answer, I tried calling the hotel’s main line and ask whether they still have any rooms available for the day, and they said yes. So how do we conclude this?

Overall

Overall I would say that it is a good place to stay if you are traveling with your family as you could make full use of the spacious area. The only setback is the location is a bit far from the city center and you will need to travel via taxi. The room rates which starts from RM220 per night is really reasonable for the huge room.
