I was in Guilin last April with #TravelholicAwesome. Located in the Guanxi province on the west bank of the Li River, Guilin is becoming one of the popular tourist destination in China. While we were there, we did explore the city in search of halal food. Like most places in the world, halal restaurants can be found nearby the mosque and in the city center area.

Here are the list of restaurants that we spotted during our stay in Guilin. We did try out a few of them though.

1) Endian Halal Restaurant

Easily the most popular halal restaurant in Guilin. The restaurant is nicely decorated. We ordered rice, sweet corn and some sweet potatoes. We also did try out the lamb shashilik which is different from the normal ones that I used to eat.

2) Baiji Muslim Restaurant

Located just beside Endian halal restaurant. Based on the menu that I saw, it looks like it’s speciality is wonton noodles.

3) Muslim Food Shop

This is not a restaurant but it is selling halal products such as instant noodles, chocolates and other tit bits. It’s the same owner of Endian halal restaurant.

4) Islamic Hotel Restaurant

We passed through this hotel on our way to the mosque. The hotel has a halal restaurant at the ground floor. By the looks and presentation, I would say the food here tend to be a bit expensive than the other restaurants around.

5) Halal Restaurant #1

The name was written all in chinese, so I don’t know the exact name of the restaurant. It is located just a few shops away from the Islamic Hotel Restaurant. A halal sign is clearly visible at the premis.

6) Halal Restaurant #2

I don’t know the name of this restaurant either. This restaurant is located in the Zhongshan south road area, in between the railway station and the bus station. We did try out this restaurant during our stay. It serves Xinjiang food and the traditional beef noodles.
