Lubuk Timah Waterfall & Hot Spring

When I arrived in Ipoh that night, I went out for a drink with my girlfriend and MasNona. They came out with the idea of exploring this one beautiful waterfall just 20 minutes off Ipoh city. I wasn’t really prepared for any wet activities but luckily I brought a spare shorts although I still had to get myself a new flipflop that night.

The following morning, they pick me up and we cruise straight to the road heading towards Cameron Highlands. After a few kilometers, we came by a sign showing Lubuk Timah. The road to get in there is kind of rough and bumpy, not suitable for lowered cars. Alas, after another 5 minutes, we reached the place. There’s no entrance fee charged but we had to pay RM2 for the car park.

the robber!

It was five minutes pass 9am and there were hardly any visitors. We decided to fill our stomach with some nasi lemak and kuih which we brought with us. However, leaving our food on the picnic table while we went to change our cloths wasn’t a good idea as we got robbed by a monkey!

The Hot Spring

This natural hot spring area is only a small area which could accommodate less than 10 people at a time.  There are 2 pools available for the usage of the public. The small pool is hotter than the big area. There’s another pool which is the source of the hot spring but it is not open for usage. We spend like an hour there soaking ourselves in the warm water.

The Waterfall

After the hot spring we walked further inside to get to the waterfall area. The trail was easy and after 10 minutes, we could already hear the waterfall sound. As soon as we arrived at the place, I couldn’t believe my eye that there’s this cool waterfall nearby Ipoh. It is really beautiful!

Apart from us, there were only another group of boys bathing there so it’s like we had the whole place for ourselves. I was in fact amused with the view and couldn’t stop clicking my camera, although without any tripod. Check out the photos below.

We also did hike the small route to get to higher ground. This enables us to get a view of the waterfall from above. It does look like a dam with water flowing from a calm river and down the waterfall.

So the next time you’re in Ipoh, try check out this place. You will not regret your visit.
