Central Vietnam #4 – Travel around Da Nang

From the ancient town of Hoi An, we proceeded our journey towards Da Nang, the city that we arrived on the first day.  The transport from Hoi An to Da Nang cost us USD22. We checked in at the Pearl Sea Hotel, which is just a few minutes away from the nearest beach. During our stay there, we rented a few motorbikes from our hotel which costs us 120,000 dong per day each. Moving around Da Nang by motorbike is quite easy as there were less traffic if you compare to other cities in Vietnam such as Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi.

Among the places that we managed to explore during our stay in Da Nang are:

My Khe Beach

Located just a few minutes from our hotel but we were there at the wrong timing. Waves were high and not many visitors around, probably because of the rainy season.

Boddhisatva Kuan Yin Statue

From My Khe beach, we ride our bikes towards son tra peninsula and arrived at the Boddhisatva Kuan Yin statue area. We didn’t actually climb up to the statue area actually. A good view of Da Nang city could be seen on the way to Son Tra peninsula.

The colorful Han River Bridge

We stopped by the side of Han River during the night to enjoy the colorful Han River Bridge. The lighting displays set on the bridge provide a bright atmosphere to the surrounding.

Marble Mountains

A 20 minute ride from Da Nang city would take you to Marble Mountains. It is a group of limestone formations and it eventually became one of Da Nang’s main attractions. Check out my post about Marble Mountains here.

Cham Museum

We also spent some time at the Da Nang Cham Museum. It houses the world’s largest collection of Cham sculpture which was constructed by the Champa civilization between 500-1500AD.

Da Nang Cathedral

It was said to be the largest cathedral in Da Nang. We just stopped by the road to take a few snaps of this place because it was closed at that time.

Cao Dai Temple

One of the temples available in Da Nang. There were no visitors at the time we were there so we just wander around and took some photos.

Marble Sculptures by the river

As we were riding along the Han River, we saw this one place where there were lots of marble sculptures being displayed.

Han Market

A place where locals do their daily shopping. You can find souvenirs, t-shirts, shoes, fruits, seafood products and even snake wines here. Perhaps the only place you could find shop selling fridge magnets in Da Nang.

I wish I have at least spend some time in Da Nang itself. I would have go to the Marble Mountain. I saw the elevator when passing by the beaches and was intrigued by it but have to opt it out.

    Next time perhaps.
