With outside temperatures rising to nearly 40 degree, we decide to find an indoor activity to do where we visited the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA). AQWA is situated nearby Hillary’s Harbor which is about 20 minutes away from Perth city and is the largest aquarium in Western Australia.
The areas were divided into few areas which reflect the unique marine environment found in the coastline of WA. The regions are Great Southern Coast, Perth Coast, Marmion Marine Park, Shipreck Coast and Far North.
There were lots of jellyfish and other poisonous sea creatures being displayed here. With the help of the lighting effects from its aquarium, the jellyfish looks very colorful and attractive.
Like most aquariums that I’ve visited, there’s an underwater tunnel to bring u inside the waters of WA. We were lucky enough at the time of our visit there was a feeding session. We saw the staffs feeding on the turtles, sharks and also stingrays. The stingrays were enormous and the sharks also look well –fed.
As we head to the outdoor part, there’s a touch pool where one could touch the starfish and several other fishes inside the pool. However please keep them underwater and touch them gently as u might hurt them. Further outdoor, there’s also a stingray pool where various species of stingrays were put on display.
Tickets were priced at AUD$28 for adult, AUD$20 for students and AUD$16 for child. AQWA is open daily from 10am till 5pm.
